Enrolment and lending policy

Adult cards

If you live in the Thames Coromandel District Council area you will need:

  • A Registration Form (available at the Library)

  • To be 18 years of age and over

  • $2.00 for the card

  • Proof of residence (something with your name and address on it e.g. a letter, bank statement)

  • Photo identification

Subscription members will need:

  • A Registration Form (available at the Library)

  • $70.00

Adult lending

  • You must have your library card to have items issued

  • If you lose your card it will cost $2.00 to replace it

  • 20 items may be borrowed per adult card

  • Books and talking books are issued for three weeks and may be renewed for another three weeks, by phone or in person at the Library

  • Books are free to borrow, except for new fiction, which is $2.00 per three week loan period for the first year, then free

  • Most magazines are 50 cents per one week loan period

  • DVDs are $2.00 per week - please do not return them through the after hours slot

  • Overdue free books and talking books will be fined at 25 cents per item per day

  • Overdue $2.00 books, magazines and DVDs will be fined at 35 cents per item per day

  • Lost items will be charged at the replacement cost

  • There is an after hours return slot at the southern end of the building

Young Adult cards

To enrol you will need:

  • To be aged 13 to 17 years or enrolled at high school

  • A Registration Form (available at the Library)

  • Your form to be countersigned by an adult

  • $2.00 for the card

Young Adult lending

  • You must have your library card to have items issued

  • If you lose you card it will cost $2.00 to replace it

  • 10 items may be borrowed per young adult card

  • To be aged from birth to 13 years

  • A Registration Form (available at the Library)

  • Your form to be countersigned by an adult

  • $2.00 for the card

Children's lending

  • You must have your library card to have items issued

  • 10 items may be borrowed per children's card

  • You can only borrow books from the Junior and Young Adult Sections of the Library

  • Books, cassettes, magazines and jigsaws are issued for three weeks and may be renewed for another three weeks, by phone or in person at the Library

  • Children's DVDs  can be borrowed for $2.00 per one week issue

  • Fines on overdue books, cassettes and jigsaws will 10 cents per item per day

  • Fines on overdue DVDs will be 35 cents per item per day

  • Lost items will be charged at replacement cost

  • The other bad news is that if you lose your card, it will cost you $2.00 to replace it
